tribute # 53 - snapper

the snapping turtle
laid her eggs in our
construction sand

left
for sacred
undisturbed

until fox
den pups
small treats

our shovelling
resumed what's
after all
the basking, nothing

mud-caked small dinosaur
(dad said decades before)
could bite thru fingers

I always thought they looked cute. Then again, looks can be deceiving, especially proven by the guy having his finger sewn back into form. ;)

p.s.
Can't get the line "cat sex isn't gentle. how does consent work?" (from the other poem) out of my head. (grin) Brings back memories of hearing blood-curdling screams from rooftops. Cheers.
