dropped some haunting words:

that you find someone who says
something you wrote is great
isn't proof. it doesn't mean it's good.
there's an audience for *everything*.

the verification has to come from inside
and from some standards from outside.

Makes sense to me. I mean, when you consider the Spice Girls had a # 1 hit, that's pretty much confirmation that the average person is...well, probably below average!

and Jewel's poetry book sold over a million copies. at the same time, lack of sales is no proof of quality and discerning audience either.
